Jason's 2nd Birthday and Marissa Elena Yeh's 0th Birthday
(Posted June 6, 2004)
It's official! Marissa Elena Yeh was born on Tuesday, May 18th. Little Marissa was 7 pounds 4 ounces at birth, and measured 18.5 inches. In other words, she was 2 inches shorter and half a pound heavier than her big brother at birth. Most importantly, she's only waking up twice during the night, giving her parents some semblance of sleep at night.
Though both Marissa and Jason have been great, it's been pretty busy around Casa Yeh, with two sets of family in for the past two weeks. Look for more pictures in the future featuring Jason and Marissa, along with their various grandparents, their Auntie Caroline, and their cousin Mathew. It's still too soon to tell whether or not Marissa will have the same magical effect on the luck of her visitors, but we'll be monitoring the weddings and IPOs and keep you posted. I do know that Jason's magic continues to work; Uncle Bull got engaged shortly after his visit.
On to the pictures!
Jason at Play
Sometimes even the Caped Crusader needs a helping hand from Daddy.
Of course, it's even more fun to be held by a real hero. Here I am with my Uncle Bull, a Lt. Colonel in the Marine Corps who helped liberate Afghanistan and tore down Saddam's statues in Iraq.
As a special treat, Mommy and Daddy took me to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to see the fish. But they wouldn't let me bring any home!
Say Daddy, are you sure this clamshell isn't going to close on us?
Ah yes, someday this will all be mine!
Jason's Second Birthday
For my second birthday, I got the best present of all: a visit from my grandparents!
Grandpa is my favorite, of course. I think I'm his favorite too, though he pays a little too much attention to Kobe sometimes!
Speaking of Kobe, she decided to sit out this particular trip to the park!
What's that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
Oh no, it's Godzilla!
What's that? It was just a plane after all. Whew, I feel better.
Bring me the finest meats and cheeses! Oh well, I guess this will be sufficient.
Here's my buddy Ezra Tock and his mom Kalee and dad Theron. Kalee and Theron came and visited me a long time ago. Since then, they've given birth to Ezra, and Theron's company was sold for hundreds of millions of dollars, once again proving that people who want to be happy come to visit me.
Ezra is still a little shaky on his feet, but you should see how fast he can crawl!
My other little buddy is Pranoy. Actually, even though he's younger than me, he's bigger than even I am. That's good, I can always use some muscle around in case people get feisty!
Of course, partying like a rock star (Christian or otherwise) can be hard work. Time for a nap! Come on Grandpa, I know you want to be my pillow.
Auntie Caroline was the camerawoman for most of these shots, but it's a little harder to take a picture and be in it at the same time!
And that's what I think about Tony Parker. Damned French!
You'd think that Daddy would get tired of all these nude scenes....
Welcome to the World, Marissa
Marissa had the audacity to be born while I was at school, so Grandma and Grandpa got to see her first.
What do they say about love at first sight? Anyways, now that Marissa's out of Mommy, I'm sure she'll have more time to spend with me again.
I was never that small. Was I?
(Editor's Note: Actually Jason, you were about 1/2 pound lighter than Marissa when you were born, though to be fair, you were also 2 inches taller.)
Say Mommy and Daddy, now that we have Marissa, how about a baby brother? What's that? Well the weather does seem unseasonably cold, so I suppose it could be freezing over....
I think Grandma is happy to have a little girl to dress up as well. I just don't think pink is my color.
Yep, I'd say Grandma is happy.
Enough with Marissa already, how about some more love for me?
Now this is more like it. Look at that cute fellow on the right!
Okay, so she is kind of cute. All right, you can show some more pictures of Marissa.
Here she is, sitting with Daddy. Say, what's that smell?
I need a diaper, stat!
Let's see that famous Yeh smile!
Yep, being born sure is hard work.
A Farewell to 2003
(Posted February 24, 2004)
Wow, it's been over 6 months since my last update. My only real excuse is that we've been incredibly busy both raising Jason and getting ready for the arrival of Marissa Elena Yeh, who is due May 17, 2004. Alas, anyone who takes the time to think about it will realize that Jason's mom is actually doing all the hard work, and that the real reason for the delays is the laziness of yours truly.
Nevertheless, I've got plenty of pictures to make up for the long drought, and many more stories. Since I last reported in, Jason has grown and matured tremendously. He can now recite the alphabet (though his pronunciation of "W" leaves a lot to be desired) and count from 1-20 by himself. Of course, this isn't always a good thing. We recently converted Jason's crib into a toddler bed, so now he gets up in the middle of the night, crawls into bed with us, and starts counting--loudly. Ah, the joys of parenthood. And, of course, those joys will be doubled in May. We're trembling with anticipation.
At any rate, I know that you're not here for my blather. Let's get to the pictures!
The caped crusader (ably costumed by his loyal butleress, Alfredina) is ready to save Gotham City once again!
Uh oh, how am I going to escape from the Joker's clutches this time?
My Tiger's Claw bat-fu is too strong for you, Joker!
Hangin' With The Grandparents
Grandma and Grandpa like to take me to museums so I get some culture. Hey, don't I get enough of that from watching television?
I met this guy at the museum. He thought he was all that, but outfit was clearly cuter!
Damn, those bugs are almost as big as Kobe! I'm staying indoors today.
Grandpa likes to explain things. Too bad I can't understand English yet!
Do we have too leave the museum so soon?
I know I like Big Bird, but this is a little too different for me!
Somewhere out there, beneath the pale blue night...
Hey, where's that camera?
Hey Grandpa, I don't think I'm going to fit into this box!
Hey Daddy, this isn't going to go on the Internet, right? Right???
What is Kobe doing on *my* pillow?
I love you, Grandpa.
